For high-value items where every unit matters individually — phones, TVs, appliances — BillBasket can track stock by serial number instead of just a quantity count. Turn on Track Serial Numbers on a product (Products → edit product), then BillBasket asks for each unit’s serial number when you receive stock, and lets you pick the exact unit being sold at billing time.
Serial tracking is only available for simple products (not services, and not products already tracked by batch).

Try it: Bali Electronics

1

Vikram turns on serial tracking

Vikram Bali, owner of Bali Electronics, edits his “Samsung Galaxy M14” product and switches on Track Serial Numbers so every phone can be identified individually.
2

Receiving stock from a supplier

When a new shipment of 10 phones arrives from his supplier, Vikram opens the purchase and enters each phone’s IMEI/serial number one by one as he unpacks the box — 10 units, 10 serial numbers, all added to stock.
3

Selling one to a customer

His staff member Deepak bills a walk-in customer for one Galaxy M14. At the billing screen, BillBasket shows the list of in-stock serials for that phone — Deepak picks the exact unit being handed over, or scans its barcode/serial directly.
4

Handling a return by serial

A week later, that same customer returns the phone for a defect. Vikram looks up the sale and processes the return against that specific serial number, so stock and warranty records stay tied to the exact unit.
