# Notifications

> Pick the WhatsApp, SMS, and email channels BillBasket uses to send invoices, receipts, and payment reminders, and edit the wording of each customer message.

**Settings → Notifications** controls how BillBasket sends invoices,
receipts, and reminders to your customers, and lets you customize exactly
what those messages say.

### Notification Channels

Turn on or off the channels BillBasket can use to send invoices, receipts,
and payment reminders to customers: WhatsApp, SMS, Email, or
Copy-to-Clipboard (for pasting into whichever app you prefer manually). You
can also pick a default channel, so BillBasket uses it automatically
without asking each time you send something.

### Message Templates

Edit the wording of the messages sent to customers — invoices, receipts,
payment reminders, and credit notes each have their own template. Templates
support auto-filled tags like `{customer_name}`, `{amount}`, and `{date}`,
which BillBasket replaces with the real values when the message is sent, so
you only need to write the wording once.

## Try it: Sharma Kirana Store

<Steps>
  <Step title="Rajesh turns on WhatsApp">
    Rajesh Sharma opens **Settings → Notifications → Notification
    Channels** and turns on WhatsApp, setting it as the default channel
    since most of his customers use it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Customizes the reminder message">
    He then opens **Message Templates** and edits the payment reminder
    template to add a friendly line, keeping the `{customer_name}` and
    `{amount}` tags so each customer's reminder is still personalized
    automatically.
  </Step>
</Steps>
