# Admin PIN & permissions

> Set a 6-digit BillBasket Admin PIN to protect Settings, Employees, product editing, and other sensitive actions from cashiers and other staff.

The Admin PIN, set during first-time setup, gates sensitive screens so staff
can bill customers freely without being able to change store settings, edit
products, or manage employees. Enter it once per session to unlock these
areas.

## Try it: Sharma Kirana Store

<Steps>
  <Step title="Suresh tries to open Settings">
    While billing at the counter, Suresh accidentally taps into Settings.
    BillBasket asks for the 6-digit Admin PIN before letting him in.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Suresh can't proceed without the PIN">
    Since Suresh only knows how to bill customers, he doesn't have the PIN
    and backs out — Sharma Kirana Store's settings stay untouched.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Rajesh unlocks it for himself">
    Later, Rajesh Sharma enters the Admin PIN to open Settings and edit a
    product's price. It stays unlocked for the rest of his session.

  <Step title="Locks again next session">
    The next time someone opens Settings, Employees, or product editing,
    BillBasket asks for the PIN again, keeping those areas protected from
    day-to-day staff.
