# Importing existing data

> Import your existing products, customers, suppliers, and opening stock into BillBasket from an Excel or CSV spreadsheet using the built-in importer.

Import master data (products, customers, suppliers) from an Excel file under
**Settings → Data Import/Export**. Download the template first to match the
expected columns.

## Try it: Sharma Kirana Store

<Steps>
  <Step title="Rajesh opens Data Import/Export">
    Rajesh Sharma has a spreadsheet of his existing products from his old
    paper ledger. He opens **Settings → Data Import/Export** on his Windows
    PC to bring it into BillBasket.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Download the template">
    He downloads the product import template first, so his columns —
    name, price, tax rate, opening stock — line up with what BillBasket
    expects.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Fill in the template">
    Rajesh fills in his products, including Parle-G Biscuits at ₹10, Tata
    Salt 1kg at ₹28, and Amul Milk 500ml at ₹32, along with their opening
    stock counts.

    He uploads the completed file. BillBasket reads it and adds all the
    products at once, ready to bill against immediately.
