# Backing up your data

> Create manual and scheduled encrypted backups of your BillBasket store data to local storage or the cloud, and verify a backup completed successfully.

Create a backup from **Settings → Backup & Restore**. Backups are encrypted
and tied to your account and store, so only you can restore them.

## Try it: Sharma Kirana Store

<Steps>
  <Step title="Rajesh opens Backup & Restore">
    Before the busy festival season, Rajesh Sharma opens **Settings →
    Backup & Restore** on his Windows counter PC to make sure his data is
    safe.

  <Step title="Run a manual backup">
    He taps **Back up now**. BillBasket encrypts the store's data — products,
    parties like Meena Devi, invoices, and more — and saves it, tied to his
    BillBasket account and store.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify the backup completed">
    Rajesh checks the backup list and sees a new entry timestamped just now,
    confirming it finished successfully.

  <Step title="Turn on scheduled backups">
    He also enables scheduled backups so BillBasket keeps backing up
    automatically going forward, without him needing to remember.
